This college graduate is so gorgeous, her smile is worth a million dollars. The flowers that decorate her mortarboard are a series of daisies, roses and baby's breath accents.

Frankly, you look at this picture and you can't help but wonder why FTD or some other flower vendor hasn't picked up on the idea of the Graduation Flower Band. In writing for this Fun With Mortarboards series, this picture just naturally inspired us to write about this idea. Here at Shades of Fun, we are not in the flower business, but why haven't these flower marketing geniuses pick up on this idea?

Yes, you have had a little bottle of Elmer's Glue handy ever since you were in Kindergarten. To help decorate your graduation cap , good old Elmer's is still your friend!

Fancy trim is easy to find in local fabric stores. Designers like to go a little crazy with upholstery trim or fringe so it's a super cheap way to add a lot of kooky pizazz to the cap!

One of the most basic craft tools to use for decorating is good old colored paper. You may pick up 'construction paper' cheaply and easily in stationary supply stores anywhere. If you don't have a pair of simple scissors, you can just tear off bits of paper to create a unique design for your cap. Did you know arts and craft supplies have really grown up -- even masking tape comes in the colors of crayons and magic markers.
